General Intake Attorney, Farmville, Virginia
Virginia Legal Aid Society helps thousands of low-income families in south-central Virginia every year by providing high-quality legal assistance in problems involving housing, access to health care, family stability, education, and consumer lending. Founded in 1977, VLAS is a sophisticated and tech-forward nonprofit law firm with four offices, two practice groups, and an intake/advice unit; all operate together as one firm.
We seek an energetic and creative general intake attorney in our nine-person law office in Farmville, a vibrant small town in Central, Virginia. The staff attorney helps to implement VLAS advocacy and community engagement for the town of Farmville, and the counties of Amelia, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Meckleburg, Nottoway, Prince Edward, and Brunswick.
Applicants should be admitted to the Virginia State Bar, or eligible for admission on motion or by the next examination. Spanish-speaking ability is a strong plus.
The salary is $50K+ DOE, and VLAS offers an excellent benefit package including a state-wide Loan Repayment Assistance Program to help repay the costs of law school. EOE.
