SENIOR ATTORNEY SALARY RANGE: $76,487 - $102,500 DOE
STAFF ATTORNEY II SALARY RANGE: $69,534-$93,182 DOE

WHO WE ARE
Disability Rights California (DRC) is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the rights of Californians with disabilities. DRC works to achieve fairness and justice for people with disabilities through individual and impact litigation, state and federal policy and regulatory advocacy, and community education and training. DRC attorneys and advocates work statewide within eight issue-based practice groups.
SENIOR ATTORNEY OR STAFF ATTORNEY II– MENTAL HEALTH
The Mental Health Practice Group is currently hiring two positions. One will likely focus on Olmstead issues, including mental health community services and housing, while the other will engage in the full range of our work.
DRC’s Mental Health Practice Group engages in individual and systemic advocacy to protect the rights of people with mental health disabilities, representing clients in locked psychiatric institutions, jails, immigration detention, and other facilities statewide. We actively monitor and investigate conditions in facilities that house people with disabilities. We engage in impact litigation to ensure adequate treatment for people with disabilities, and to fight for the provision of accommodations, equal access, and equal opportunity. We work to promote Olmstead rights -- improving access to community alternatives to institutions or homelessness, including community-based services and supported housing.
QUALIFICATIONS SENIOR ATTORNEY
- Juris Doctor degree (JD) plus 5 or more years related experience as an attorney in the practice of public interest law and/or representing clients in administrative hearings and litigation.
- Experience supervising or mentoring attorneys and legal assistants.
QUALIFICATIONS STAFF ATTORNEY II
Juris Doctor degree (JD) plus 3 or more years related experience as an attorney in the practice of public interest law and/or representing clients in administrative hearings and litigation.
Licenses / Certificates
Must be a member of the California State Bar, or eligible to practice under the Registered Legal Services Attorney Program
