Position Description: 

We seek an energetic, culturally sensitive attorney with a strong commitment to public interest and social justice advocacy to represent families seeking access to CalWORKs and related benefits programs such as Medi-Cal, CalFresh, and Refugee Cash Assistance. Responsibilities will include conducting client interviews, negotiating with governmental agencies, research and writing, and representation at administrative hearings. The attorney will engage in policy work in areas that uniquely affect our clients' rights, participate in community collaborations, and engage in community outreach and education. The attorney will split time between our San Francisco office and an outstation-office at the San Francisco Human Services Agency.

Requirements: 

Membership in good standing with the California State Bar;
At least one year experience with public benefits advocacy;
Excellent communication, writing and analytical skills;
Strong organizational skills;
Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team;
Experience working with culturally diverse, low income client communities;
Experience working with survivors of domestic violence and clients with disabilities;
Enjoy working in a fast-paced, ever changing environment;
Bilingual ability in Spanish, Cantonese, or Vietnamese preferred.
