Position Description: 

SUMMARY
The Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) seeks a bilingual attorney for a staff attorney position focusing on impact litigation in federal court and direct representation on individual cases before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). It is anticipated that the attorney's time will be split evenly between federal litigation and direct representation on cases before the agencies.

This position will be based at NWIRP's Seattle office.

REPORTS TO
Legal Director, Seattle Office.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work collaboratively with impact litigation team on cases in federal court;
• Provide direct representation to clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Immigration Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals and other federal agencies;
• Conduct intakes and provide pro se and brief service legal assistance to individuals in various immigration matters;
• Participate in NWIRP's outreach, community education and development efforts;
• Perform other tasks as required and directed by supervisory staff.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
• Law degree and admitted to Washington State Bar, or admission to the bar of any state in the U.S. and willing to sit for bar in Washington State;
• Significant federal court litigation and immigration law experience strongly preferred;
• Demonstrated commitment to immigrant rights and willingness to support NWIRP's mission, vision and values;
• Excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills;
• Commitment to working in a diverse work environment;
• Fluent in English and another language (with preference for Spanish fluency); and
• Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.

Salary starts at $51,755, DOE, plus a generous package of health, dental and other benefits. This position is expected to begin in March 2017.
