Nonprofit appellate public defense office seeks Director to lead the organization into the future. The Washington Appellate Project (www.washapp.org) has been representing indigent clients in appealing criminal convictions, civil commitments, or terminations of parental rights in Washington state and federal courts for over 20 years. The organization is committed to providing the highest quality representation to its clients in a collegial and cooperative work environment. Applicants should have extensive experience in state and federal appellate practice, a thorough understanding of the process of representing indigent parties in Washington state, familiarity with operating nonprofit organizations, experience in contract negotiations, the ability to manage high caseloads, strong administrative and management skills, and the ability and desire to mentor upcoming attorneys.
