The Tribal Defenders Office for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes in Pablo, Montana is seeking an attorney to provide services to clients of the Flathead Reservation Reentry Program. This position is a contracted, full time position that will end September 30, 2021 unless funding is extended. The Reentry Attorney assists tribal members returning to the Reservation from tribal and state incarceration to address collateral consequences to criminal charges and convictions, correct and expunge criminal histories, represent clients in driver’s license suspensions, negotiate presentencing recommendations and file petitions for relief from sentencing and offender registration requirements. The Reentry Attorney is a member of the Tribal Defenders’ Holistic Defense team that addresses the issues that bring tribal members into the criminal justice system as well as collateral consequences resulting from criminal charges.
