CCRC South is a State of Florida defender agency which represents indigent Florida death row inmates in both state post conviction cases and in federal habeas corpus litigation. Cases are assigned within the office in a team concept. Each case is assigned a unique team that includes an experienced lead attorney with a background in capital litigation, a second chair attorney with more limited experience, and a member of the in-house investigative staff. The majority of the caseload originates from the south Florida area including the 11th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 19th, and 20th State of Florida judicial circuits. However, conflict case appointments may arise from other areas in Florida. An investigator at CCRC-South is responsible for conducting detailed investigations related to both state and federal court proceedings.
