Position Description: 

The Position:
The Holistic Defense Program Manager is responsible for the overall management of Family Service Agency’s Holistic Defense Pilot Program. Responsibilities include managing, developing and directing staff, budgets, policies and procedures, maintaining and creating relationships with public and private community partners and providing support to the Agency’s fundraising and marketing activities. The position directly supervises staff and reports to the Executive Director.

The goal of the Holistic Defense Program is to stabilize lives, reduce recidivism, and create safer communities through an innovative, individualized and interdisciplinary approach to legal defense that addresses the dynamic risk factors for the criminal behavior of clients. Holistic Defense is a partnership between Family Service Agency, a nonprofit organization, and the Public Defender’s Office.

Requirements: 

Employment Standards:
1. LCSW or MSW from a CSWE-accredited program and two years post-master’s social work practice experience following graduation.
1. Experience in program management, development, budget operations and oversight, and staff supervision.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to utilize research information.
3. General knowledge of criminal defense advocacy.
4. Experience advocating for adults involved in the criminal justice system preferred.
5. Knowledge of issues concerning poor and under-served populations.
6. Case management and / or experience working within complex societal systems (i.e. criminal justice, social services, medical, education).
7. Demonstrated multicultural competency.
8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
9. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
10. Strong written and oral advocacy skills.
11. Computer and Internet literacy; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
12. Valid automobile insurance and a valid California Driver License.
13. Reliable transportation is necessary to travel throughout Santa Barbara County.

Classification, Hours and Pay Rate:

Position is Non-Exempt, Part-Time (Exempt, Full-Time possible depending on qualifications)

Pay rate is dependent upon experience/qualifications
