Greater Hartford Legal Aid, Inc. (GHLA) is an independent not-for-profit law firm that provides free legal representation in a wide variety of cases to low-income residents of Hartford County. We offer advice and representation in housing, family/domestic violence, employment, senior, government benefits, health, education, and disability matters. GHLA attorneys practice in state and federal court, appear before state and federal administrative agencies, and advocate for client interests through policy advocacy.
Interns at GHLA have the opportunity to have a broad range of experiences, including client interviews and fact investigations, legal research and writing, motions argument in court, representation of clients at administrative hearings, community outreach, and policy advocacy.
Demonstrated commitment to the legal rights of low-income workers and the well-being of low-income communities; superior analytical, writing and communication skills. Spanish-English bi-lingual ability is preferred but not required.
