Legal Aid seeks a full-time attorney for its Consumer Protection Unit at our Central Office in Kansas City, Missouri. The unit assists low-income clients to retain ownership of their homes via bankruptcy, tax sale redemption contracts, loan modifications, notices of error and requests for information, and the like; represents clients in debt defense lawsuits and with other claims on behalf of consumers; and represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service and Missouri Department of Revenue with respect to income tax controversies.

Salary: $50,310 plus, DOE

This position requires excellent writing skills, attention to detail, work ethic, computer proficiency, and a desire and commitment to deliver high quality legal assistance to low-income people. Candidates must be members of the Missouri Bar or eligible for licensure in Missouri through reciprocity. Experience handling consumer, tax, and/or bankruptcy cases is preferred (but not required).
