The attorney in this position is expected to work independently in managing an active caseload while simultaneously working in a team-oriented environment focused on a client-centered approach to representation. This position will be primarily located in Annapolis, Maryland but will involve travel to all District Court locations in Anne Arundel County for court. The anticipated start date is flexible but ideally late fall 2022/early winter 2022.

● Ensure clients are consistently heard and respected.
● Passionate and zealous representation of clients charged with criminal and traffic matters at every stage of the criminal process.

Assistant Public Defender I- $62,343.00-$84,413.00 (Step 1-Step 11)
Assistant Public Defender II-$69,069.00-$90,802.00 (Step 1-Step 11)
Assistant Public Defender III- $73,714.00-$96,084.00 (Step 1-Step 11)
Criminal trial experience or exposure preferred.

● Active membership in good standing in the Maryland Bar or Bar of another state by start date. OPD will consider candidates who sat for the February 2022 bar examination. If selected, offer will be extended contingent on membership to the bar in advance of the start date. Preference in the selection process will be given to candidates that are already of the bar. Attorneys barred in another state must become a member of the Maryland bar within 18 months of the start date.
