Position Description: 

Full-time opening for staff attorney to provide representation in family law cases, including survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

Mid-Missouri Legal Services seeks a full-time attorney in its Columbia, Missouri office to represent clients in family law cases. The attorney must be licensed in the State of Missouri or must have passed the bar exam and be eligible for licensure.
The attorney will represent clients in family law cases, including, adoption, divorce, custody, paternity and modification proceedings, as well as adult and child guardianship cases. Some cases will involve representing survivors of domestic or sexual violence who are permanently separating from their abusers. The attorney primarily will handle cases in Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Chariton, Howard and Randolph Counties. MMLS provides mileage reimbursement for travel to out-of-town courthouses.

MMLS has an experienced family law unit, consisting of five attorneys, that fosters collegiality and provides guidance and mentoring to new family law attorneys. Candidates will be considered only if they have a strong commitment to social justice and have compassion and respect for low-income and/or vulnerable populations.

Requirements: 

The attorney must be licensed in the State of Missouri or must have passed the bar exam and be eligible for licensure.
