LEGAL SERVICES FOR THE ELDERLY
STAFF ATTORNEY POSITION

LSE is a statewide non-profit organization that has been providing free legal services to Maine seniors for forty six years. LSE is committed to ensuring that all Maine seniors – of any class, race, sex, background, orientation, or identity -- are secure in meeting their basic needs, including housing, health care, nutrition, community, safety, and freedom from exploitation and oppression. As part of that commitment, LSE works to create and maintain a workforce and culture that reflects the diversity of our state.

LSE has a fulltime Staff Attorney position open. The Staff Attorney will initially work from a home office but it is anticipated they will eventually be assigned to work out of an LSE office. The Staff Attorney will handle a wide variety of civil litigation matters and conduct outreach. Applicants living or planning to live in southern Maine are preferred but applications will be accepted on a statewide basis.

Candidates must be licensed to practice in Maine (or be eligible for admission or sitting for the bar exam in July) and have 0-5 years of related legal experience. Candidates must also have a strong interest in and/or experience doing civil litigation and a commitment to working with and helping the elderly. The Staff Attorney will work as part of a team of Staff Attorneys and receive ongoing professional training and support.
