Position Description: 

Community Legal Aid (CLA) is the non-profit legal services program providing free civil legal assistance to low-income residents of central and western Massachusetts. CLA has over 100 dedicated, talented staff working across multiple offices, and a budget of $12 million. Our core work includes effective client-centered advocacy and robust outreach to and partnerships with our client communities.

CLA seeks case managers to assist tenants at risk of eviction and homelessness due to the impact of COVID-19. These positions are temporary and funded through December 31, 2021. Under the COVID Eviction Legal Help Project, teams of attorneys, intake paralegals, case managers, and support staff will help tenants facing eviction due to the impact of COVID-19. The case manager team members will connect clients with resources which provide rent arrears, housing subsidies, and other supports that will help them obtain and maintain housing. The case managers will serve as a liaison for clients navigating the landscape of social service and government programs that provide these supports. The case managers will work out of one of CLA's five main offices in central and western Massachusetts (Springfield, Northampton, Pittsfield, Fitchburg, and Worcester).

Requirements: 

QUALIFICATIONS:

College graduate.
Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred.
Demonstrated concern for and commitment to the goals of legal services and to working for low-income people, and ability to relate to and establish productive working relationships with community groups, individuals, and human service agencies.
Ability to be part of an interactive, supportive team with high expectations.
Ability to develop and maintain knowledge of community resources.
Ability to multi-task, operate independently and problem-solve in real time.
Good written and oral communication skills.
