Position Description: 

The Virginia Indigent Defense Commission (VIDC) is a Commonwealth of Virginia independent agency which provides legal representation to indigent criminal defendants through the administration of a state public defender system and the certification of court appointed counsel. The VIDC is dedicated to protecting the rights and dignity of our clients through zealous, compassionate, high-quality legal advocacy.

Duties:
Plans, coordinates, executes, and supervises all daily activities of the Budget and Finance department to meet Federal, State, and Commission policies procedures and regulations. Establishes and implements goals, objectives, operational standards, and procedures for the department. Supervises the daily activities of staff in the areas of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Procurement, and Budgeting. Directs and coordinates agency’s financial and budget activities related to operations and to maximize efficiency. Reviews and approves transactions and fiscal reconciliations as required. Serve as the agency liaison for APA audits and inquiries. Actively participates in senior level management issues including, but not limited to, strategic planning, COOP development, and project management. Maintains the minimum requirements to provide reasonable assurance of adequate internal controls. Performs the annual Agency Risk Management Internal Control Standards (ARMICS) assessment.

Requirements: 

-Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field with considerable experience in Accounting, Budgeting, and Financial reporting.
-Considerable knowledge of Accounting principles, practices, and procedures with an emphasis on fiscal and budgetary development and analysis.
-Experience providing hands-on management for the budgeting, purchasing, and financial functions of an agency or organization.
-Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively across all position levels within the agency and also with outside entities.
- Experience supervising and managing a financial staff.
-Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and direct staff.

Salary range: 
$85,000 - $102,000 Based on Experience
