Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida (CLSMF) is seeking a dynamic professional to serve in either the position as either Staff Attorney or an exceptionally qualified Paralegal in an exciting medical-legal partnership between CLSMF and the West Volusia Hospital Authority (WVHA) in Volusia County. This highly visible position’s key responsibilities are providing direct legal services to underserved, low-income clients in a variety of healthcare, Social Security legal matters, including public benefits, housing and family law and measured through securing eligible case referrals, and overall positive engagement to clients and stakeholders in the service community.
The CLSMF Medical-Legal Partnership is responsible for successfully engaging the clients eligible within this grant as funded, working in a direct service role to serve clients and providers in an outreach capacity, and supporting the firm’s productive overall presence in area served under the grant.
Reporting to the Managing Attorney, the Medical-Legal Partnership Staff Attorney or Paralegal serves as the designated liaison between CLSMF, stakeholders throughout the provider community, non-profit leaders, and a wide array of human service entities, this position is responsible for cultivating, and coordinating effective working relationships, from inception to follow up to assure CLSMF’s impact to individuals served in Volusia County. This Medical Legal Partnership professional role is a FT position with the ability to work both scheduled and flexible work hours, including some evenings/weekends, based on business need throughout the Volusia County service area by develop effective working relationships with medical and behavioral health organizations in west Volusia County and serving as CLSMF’s liaison to WVHA’s Commissioners.


* If an attorney, must be admitted to practice law in Florida or possess Certification as a Paralegal with commensurate experience
* 2 - 4 years’ experience as a lawyer or Paralegal. Commitment to low-income/vulnerable clients and communities on legal matters; experience working or volunteering in a health or human services setting preferred.
* Successful candidate will have highly approachable presentation and organizational skills and the ability to effectively and consistently engage a broad constituency, including experience in community /grant-funded programs.
* This is a shirtsleeves position able to creatively and zealously advocate for clients while managing a full caseload; and commitment to improving community health; with flexibility and enthusiasm about outreach and the challenges in building a new program.
* Spoken and written fluency in English and Spanish preferred
* Must possess excellent legal and community partnership skills and be computer literate (Microsoft Office 365)
* Valid Florida automobile license, use of own auto, and proof of insurance necessary.
