Position Description: 

Mid-level staff attorney sought to join a restructured housing project at Chicago's preeminent nonprofit civil rights legal organization. The housing project's advocacy includes direct legal services, community education, impact litigation, and policy advocacy related to fair housing, affordable housing, and healthy housing. Under new leadership, the housing team has strengthened its focus on systemic change advocacy. The staff attorney will be part of a 23-person staff committed to advancing racial equity, economic opportunity, and community empowerment through a diverse set of advocacy tools and partnerships, including pro bono partnerships with nearly 50 member law firms.


Five-plus years of litigation experience, preferably in housing
Policy advocacy experience preferred
Illinois Bar Admission
Clear commitment to racial equity and civil rights
Strong writing and oral communications skills
Ability to work in a culturally and racially diverse setting
