JOB DUTIES: Pro Bono Counsel
The Pro Bono Counsel (NY) is responsible for managing the firm’s pro bono practice in the New York Office in conjunction with the firm’s pro bono team. Assist with developing the firm's pro bono activities in the New York Office, with a focus on business/ transactional pro bono. In conjunction with maintaining an active caseload of business pro bono client matters, identify new pro bono business opportunities available for volunteer engagement. Assist in identifying high quality pro bono opportunities for attorneys regardless of practice. Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with outside public interest law organizations to develop referral opportunities. Recruit firm attorneys to accept pro bono work. Serve as a substantive resource to firm volunteers engaged in business pro bono matters. Curate business pro bono training and resource materials. Assist in the administration/management of the firm’s pro bono practice. Help maintain electronic resources for pro bono practice areas. Help prepare and analyze data regarding pro bono efforts. Assist in writing and producing annual Pro Bono Reporter. Assist in responding to external pro bono surveys and reports. Coordinate pro bono related trainings and other programs in the New York office. Among other activities, this individual will focus attention on supporting and facilitating attorney involvement in nonprofit transactional and community development activities.

Requirements: 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be specifically listed on resume in order to be considered for this position.
• JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school is required.
• Bar admission in New York State required (or eligibility for admission).
• Minimum four years legal experience working in the area of business/transactional fields required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent judgment to work with firm partners and associates, and the New York public interest law community. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with attorneys and staff. Excellent software skills including knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Background check conducted after conditional offer of employment.
