a temporary position as a Paralegal or Law Clerk to be based in either Albuquerque, Las Cruces or Santa Fe. Primary funding for the project is being provided by the New Mexico Attorney General’s office, and is expected to continue through June 30, 2016 with the possibility of extension. The position may be part-time or full-time depending on project needs and availability.
The paralegal/law clerk will work as part of a statewide team within NMLA currently made up of 3 attorneys, 1 paralegal and 1 housing counselor. Work will include conducting client intakes, assisting with administrative case management work, legal research, drafting of pleadings and letters, and assistance with the pro se workshop.
Legal experience with foreclosure defense work or civil litigation is preferred. Candidates must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and build collaborative relationships within the staff and the community. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
