Position Description: 

This position serves as the Deputy Auditor Master in the Office of the Auditor-Master and operates with full authority to conduct evidentiary hearings and issue orders. The incumbent will assist the Auditor-Master in the daily oversight and administration of the office.

Duties:
The duties and responsibilities of the Deputy Auditor-Master entail, but are not limited to, the following:

-Assists the Auditor-Master in carrying out the day-to-day operations of the Division including administration, case management, hearing room support and quality control
-Interprets relevant statutes, laws and court rules in resolving issues within the division
-Responsible for conducting hearings, issuing orders and reports in cases received through orders of references as directed by the Auditor- Master
-Responsible for investigating, processing documentation and exhibits, and researching facts and law in assigned cases in preparation for status and full evidentiary hearings conducted by the Auditor-Master
-Assists with the auditing and statement of fiduciary and other required accounts in matters referred by the court
-Audits fiduciary accounts assuring compliance with applicable accounting principles, governing rules and statutes
-Assists in the formulation and management of the division's budget
-Responsible for staff management, development, and training. This includes the creation of performance plans and reviews, rewarding and coaching staff and addressing performance issues in a timely manner
-Responsible for the timely accomplishments of program objectives and goals in support of the division's management action plan (MAP) and the courts' strategic plan
-Conducts hearings, takes testimony, and receives evidence as directed by the Auditor-Master
-Reviews draft reports and stated account to ensure compliance with the rules of the Court, judicial decisions. statutory provisions, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
-As directed by the Auditor-Master, serves as liaison to auxiliary agencies such as the U.S. Attorney's Office, Office of the Attorney General and the DC Bar and other Court divisions or offices concerning mutual programs and objectives
-Actively participates in court conferences, trainings, meetings and committees regarding office and court initiatives and programs, procedures, rules, policies, and studies

Requirements: 

Qualifications:
-Graduation from an accredited university or college with a Law degree plus four (4) years of litigation experience.

-Three (3) years of experience managing people in a public service, court system or legal environment.

-Must be a current member of the District of Columbia Bar.

-Familiarity with fiduciary accounting and with Probate, Civil and or Real Estate matters is required.
