Legal Intake Assistant (Full-time)
The American Civil Liberties Union of Virginia (ACLU-VA) seeks an efficient and effective Legal Intake Assistant who wants to advance civil liberties and civil rights in Virginia by implementing our legal intake program and providing top-notch administrative support to our legal team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a busy environment with the ability to easily balance multiple projects at once while staying focused on the details that matter. What You’ll Do
You’ll help us protect and advance the ACLU’s mission by:
• Screening and responding to more than 3,000 annual requests for legal assistance to help identify potential intake sources for further case development;
• Serving as the expert of our case management database, ensuring all intakes are cataloged, accurate, up-to-date, and well organized;
• Assisting in follow-up with intake sources, as necessary, to obtain additional information for the legal team; and
• Providing administrative support to the legal team as needed.

Requirements: 

• Experience in communicating with people, gathering facts, and analyzing information;
• Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently on consistent and revolving requests for assistance;
• Ability to communicate with and assist people undergoing legal crises;
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to keep timelines and pay close attention to detail;
• Ability to work cooperatively on a team and manage up and hold other staff accountable for meeting deadlines;
• Flexibility, patience, and willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and resources; and
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and a commitment to the highest ethical standards.

Salary is based on market factors and individual experience and abilities. The salary range for this position is $31,300 to $46,300. To preserve the opportunity for advancement, we do not normally hire above the mid-point of the range. We offer excellent benefits include paid time off, generous paid holidays, 401k plan with employer contribution, medical and dental insurance, life insurance, and income replacement during illness through a combination of annual medical leave, short-term and long-term disability insurance.
Salary range: 
$31,300 - $46,300
