Prairie State Legal Services
Job type:
Legal - Civil
Position Description:

The need for civil legal aid for those in need doesn’t stop in a pandemic. Prairie State Legal Services’ dedicated staff are working remotely and remain committed to assisting our clients in a range of legal issues. We know that our clients will be hardest hit in this pandemic and many will not have resources to fall back on or access to help. As the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to materialize, PSLS is preparing for an increase in client need by expanding its telephonic and other remote services to clients and increasing staffing in designated issue areas like housing and domestic violence.

PSLS serves 36 counties throughout northern and central Illinois. We focus on helping clients who have legal problems that affect their basic human needs—like housing, income, and safety. Typical cases include preventing eviction or mortgage foreclosure, obtaining orders of protection to ensure the safety of domestic violence survivors, and helping persons with disabilities get public benefits like medical assistance and Supplemental Security Income.

• Provide accurate and complete information for grant reporting to grant funders including documenting services in the case record;
• Exhibit a high level of personal energy, organization, and commitment to the position and the PSLS mission.
