Heart of Florida Legal Aid Society, Inc. (HOFLA) is a non-profit law firm that provides free civil legal aid services to low-income residents of Polk, Hardee, and Highlands counties in family law and immigration matters. Our case priorities are family law and immigration cases with a focus on survivors of domestic violence and violent crimes. HOFLA seeks a bilingual Spanish-speaking family law attorney to work in our Bartow, FL office 4 days a week.
Family Law attorneys are responsible for the delivery of high-quality legal services in accordance with the mission and priorities of the program, the Florida Rules of Professional Conduct, and the ABA Standards for the Provision of Civil Legal Aid. You will perform a range of duties including filing legal documents, attending court proceedings, participating in mediation sessions, and offering useful advice to clients. To excel in this role, the successful candidate will be an exceptional listener and communicator with excellent negotiating skills. All candidates must have the ability to successfully manage a high volume of clients and meet HOFLA’s required deliverables and outcomes. The atmosphere of the firm is fast-paced and requires a person with a team-player attitude.
We prefer to hire a licensed Florida attorney with at least 1 year experience working in family law and working with clients who are survivors of trauma. We are willing to train the right attorney-candidate who wants to practice family law and demonstrates a genuine passion for helping low-income Floridians in a primarily rural service delivery area. Successful candidates will embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion and must be bilingual and able to communicate with Spanish speaking clients.
