Position Description: 

Community Legal Aid (CLA) is the non-profit legal services program providing free civil legal assistance to low-income residents of central and western Massachusetts. CLA has over 100 staff working across multiple offices, and a budget of $11 million.

CLA seeks an attorney to spearhead the work of its Asian outreach and advocacy project in Worcester County (central Massachusetts). The attorney will do robust outreach to the county's Southeast Asian communities, conduct know-your-rights trainings in the community, and provide legal assistance to individual clients in the areas of their greatest need, which may include access to unemployment and other benefits programs, homelessness prevention, and naturalization matters for immigrants..

Requirements: 

QUALIFICATIONS: Admission to Mass. Bar or entitlement to practice under SJC Rule 3:04 is required. Fluency in Vietnamese strongly preferred. Fluency in Chinese Mandarin, Nepali or Burmese also desirable. Experience in outreach and working with communities from diverse backgrounds, and deep knowledge of issues impacting the Asian American community, very important. Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a collaborative setting also important.
