Position Description: 

Georgia Legal Services Program seeks an Attorney Pro Bono Coordinator who will have primary responsibility for building and maintaining a vibrant special projects pro bono program with large and medium-sized law firms and corporate counsel programs in Georgia.

The Coordinating Attorney will:
• Develop in consultation with law firm and corporate counsel attorneys pro bono signature projects that support the low-income communities served by GLSP;
• Locate and secure a range of pro bono options that will involve and satisfy the diverse interests and skills of large law firm and corporate counsel attorneys;
• Have primary responsibility for building and maintaining a vibrant pro bono signature projects program at GLSP and promoting the delivery of high-quality legal services by volunteer lawyers, law students, paralegals and other professionals in coordination with GLSP attorneys and staff;
• Coordinate substantive law and skills training for volunteer lawyers to support pro bono programming;
• Work closely with GLSP’s Executive Director and Pro Bono Director to align pro bono programming with other GLSP initiatives.

The Attorney Pro Bono Coordinator will be a member of GLSP’s Pro Bono Unit and report to GLSP’s Pro Bono Director.


GLSP seeks a candidate with prior large or medium-sized law firm or corporate counsel experience (minimum of three years preferred) and ability to practice law in Georgia and who:
• Demonstrates commitment to legal services for low-income people;
• Demonstrates understanding of private law firm and corporate pro bono culture;
• Experience supervising, training, and mentoring staff or volunteers (preferably pro bono lawyers);
• Demonstrates the ability and knowledge to develop and manage projects with a broad range of stakeholders;
• Demonstrates an understanding of the intersection between pro bono work and development;
• Excellent planning, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills;
• Excellent team-building and team leadership skills;
• Ability to learn and follow GLSP's case management protocols and pro bono-related grant compliance and reporting requirements; and
• Ability and willingness to travel throughout GLSP's 154-county service area;
