Position Description: 

Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, Inc. (ABLE), a non-profit law firm that provides free high quality legal assistance in civil matters to low-income individuals and groups in 32 counties in western Ohio seeks a dynamic, compassionate, innovative attorney for its Dayton office. This part-time and/or full-time position will focus on providing legal services to low-income individuals who were impacted by the Memorial Day tornadoes in Mercer and Montgomery counties. Term of service to begin immediately.

Requirements: 

This position requires working closely with community-based partners. Successful candidates will have excellent legal and organization skills; experience with case management, computer software and Microsoft Office; and excellent interpersonal skills and experience in working in collaborative environments; ability to relate well with low-income clients and commitment to legal services to disenfranchised populations required. Previous experience in areas of landlord/tenant, consumer fraud issues, bankruptcy or poverty law in general is preferred. Ability to communicate fluently in Spanish is helpful but not required. Membership in Ohio Bar is required. Attorneys with recent bar admissions are encouraged to apply. Salary depends on experience. This is a temporary contract attorney position with no benefits offered.
