Dedicated to reducing the legal barriers to housing, healthcare, and income for veterans recovering from mental illness and homelessness, the Connecticut Veterans Legal Center (CVLC) has been a national leader in legal services since we opened our doors in 2009. CVLC and the Veterans Administration created the country’s first VA medical-legal partnership at Connecticut’s Errera Community Care Center, integrating legal help into VA mental health, housing and addiction services.
Today, we continue to be a merry band of advocates who give our all, every day, to help veterans overcome legal obstacles so they can live meaningful and comfortable lives. Our services have helped almost 2500 veterans rebuild the fulfilling lives they deserve, serving over 600 clients last year alone. CVLC’s work often occurs where veterans law intersects with economic and racial justice, women’s rights, and mental health.
We are currently seeking applicants to sponsor for both the Skadden and Equal Justice Works Fellowships. Although not required, applicants for a CVLC sponsorship are encouraged to submit proposals for possible fellowship projects.

For both fellowships, applicants must be third year law students or recent graduates completing judicial clerkships. Successful CVLC candidates must also be strong researchers and writers with a proven academic record, have demonstrated experience with or interest in legal causes and remedies to veteran homelessness, creativity and enthusiastic curiosity, and a willingness to sit for the State Bar of Connecticut. Most of all, applicants must possess a passion for social justice and an excitement about serving veterans.
