The Legal Aid Society of Columbus is seeking to hire an Accountant to assist in the financial related accounting activities for the Agency.  Accounting for the daily operations of the Agency.
 Preparation of monthly and annual journal entries for recording payroll, grant billings for
accounts receivable, depreciation, pre-paid expenses, and other adjusting entries as needed.
 Bank and investment account reconciliations.
 Recording and preparation of cash receipts entries.
 Inventory control and calculation of depreciation for property and equipment.
 Reconciliation of general ledger to subsidiary ledgers and other supporting detail.
 Compilation and submission of payroll to 3rd party processor on a bi-weekly basis.
 Updating changes to pay rates, withholdings, employer pension contribution, sick and vacation
accrual rates, and other items relating to employees pay information.
 Online submission of employee and employer pension contributions to investment firms.
 Input payables for union dues, and United Way withholdings.
 Preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, and annual grant reports and
billings.
 Calculation of grant cost allocations for payroll and other expenses allowed by funders.
 Input grant cost allocation journal entries into general ledger.
 Preparation of budgets for grant applications and track budget to actual to monitor status of
spend down on grants.
 Preparation of monthly financial statements.
 Compile information requested by auditors for annual audit and for audits conducted by
funders.
 Special projects

Requirements: 

Applicants should have at least 5 years of accounting experience. A bachelor’s degree in accounting,
finance, business administration or related field will be considered as a substitute for all or a portion of
the experience requirement. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a basic understanding of
generally accepted accounting principles and have knowledge of non-profit accounting. Proficiency in
Excel and Word is necessary, and knowledge of ABILA MIP software would be helpful.
