Position Description: 

Texas Legal Services Center (TLSC) is a nonprofit legal office which provides assistance and training to poverty law advocates and their clients in the areas of litigation support, education, and communication. TLSC sponsors projects that assist individuals in Texas and, in some cases, nationwide. TLSC’s Self Represented Litigants Program (SRLP) assists low-income individuals who represent themselves in civil legal matters by providing free and accurate legal information, forms, and advice through its website, www.TexasLawHelp.org.

Essential Job Activities
The SRLP web developer will be responsible for:
- Developing and maintaining TexasLawHelp.org and any other SRLP websites.
- Customizing (desktop/mobile) website front-ends via HTML, CSS, JS and modules settings.
- Developing and maintaining Drupal modules using PHP and MySQL.
- Overseeing Drupal migrations (from Drupal 7 to 8, and onward).
- Interfacing with web site and domain hosting companies.
- Maintaining hosting services, domain names, SSL certificates, etc.
- Monitoring Google Analytics for trends and issues.
- Search engine optimization.
- Keeping up-to-date with web development technologies and trends.
- Python development, assisting SRLP attorneys with document assembly projects such as A2J, HotDocs, Odyssey Guide &
File, and Docassemble.
- Performing all job activities and project coordination in a professional and positive manner.
- Keeping track of project deadlines and milestones to ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Complying with all regulations, grant requirements, and internal operating and personnel policies.
- Promptly providing all information needed/requested for TLSC-reporting.
- Ensuring that all client, project, and computer files are maintained in an orderly manner.
- Maintaining the highest level of professionalism when working with other TLSC staff, other legal aid programs,
governmental and funding entities, and the public.
- Embracing and supporting TLSC’s overall mission, standards, policies, and confidentiality requirements.
- Ensuring that all appointments and deadlines are calendared and timely executed
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Deputy Director, Associate Director, and the SRLP Managing
Attorney.

Other Requirements
This work is professional and requires the following physical activities:
- Sitting for long periods of time, occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, and good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent
repetitive motions
- Occasional lifting of files, supplies, and office equipment.
- Ability to type with speed and accuracy and to utilize office software and case management systems.

This position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week of service.

Requirements: 

Minimum Job Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have strong skills in front-end web development: HTML, CSS and JS; back-end development: PHP, MySQL and Python; and be familiar with content management systems (CMS): Drupal 7; and source control: Git. At least three years of web development experience (professional work or equivalent public projects) and familiarity with Drupal CMS is strongly desired. Time management, attention to detail, and effective communicate skills are expected. General interest in the non-profit space or experience working in a legal aid environment is desired.
