Development Associate

Community Legal Aid (CLA) seeks a Development Associate to work in its Worcester office.

Organization: Community Legal Aid provides free civil legal services to low-income and elderly residents of central and western Massachusetts.

Position: The Development Associate is a hands-on, fast-paced and multi-faceted position that will support CLA's annual strategic development plan, designed to build and enhance all donor communications and experiences, and to structure and prioritize solicitation activities. The Development Associate will report to the Development Director, and will work closely with the Executive Director, the Grants Manager, and volunteers, as well with staff attorneys and advocates to build client stories and key messages. The position will involve occasional travel to the counties of western Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain donor database (Salesforce.com), ensuring data accuracy and system integrity. Serve as point-person for database management, customization and upkeep.
Process timely gift acknowledgement letters, manage gift processing and assist with financial reconciliations.
Configure and manage database query and reporting; understand and recommend best practices as result of analysis.
Assist in the production and mailing of appeals, newsletters, and annual reports.
Help develop and implement multi-faceted communications plans, which include message development, website, advocacy, and social media, to educate, motivate, and influence target audiences.
Help plan and execute donor cultivation, celebration, and solicitation events.
Assist with prospect research for funder and donor cultivation and stewardship.

Requirements: 

Qualifications:

Fundraising and communications experience.
Strong personal work ethic and ability to organize time, manage diverse activities, and meet critical deadlines with minimal supervision.
Excellent writing, editing, and proof-reading skills and is very detail-oriented.
Demonstrated ability to be entrusted with sensitive information.
Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with a team.
Experience with database management (Salesforce preferred) and dedication to data integrity, systems and upkeep.

Experience in digital communications, social media campaigns, and CMS and web management is highly valued.
Interest in implementing new systems and strategies to strengthen the organization.
Understanding of and commitment to CLA's social justice mission.
