Position Description: 

Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida (CLSMF) is seeking a Certified Paralegal for its Medical-Legal Partnership with West Volusia Hospital Authority (WVHA).

Description:
Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida (CLSMF) is seeking a Certified Paralegal for its Medical-Legal Partnership with West Volusia Hospital Authority (WVHA). This position serves as the liaison between CLSMF, the WVHA Board of Commissioners, and a variety of human service entities and requires an individual who can effectively cultivate and develop relationships with stakeholders in Volusia County. The Medical-legal Partnership Paralegal provides WVHA patients assistance to obtain healthcare coverage under Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, and the Healthcare Market Place.

The Medical-Legal Partnership Paralegal is a FT position with the ability to work both scheduled and flexible work hours, including some evenings/weekends, based on business need throughout the service area.

Responsibilities:
• Perform client intakes in the community at various WVHA partner sites
• Serve as appointed representative for SSI/SSDI cases using the SOAR application process including filing initial applications, responding to requests and questionnaires from SSA and DDS, collecting medical records, and writing comprehensive Medical Summary Reports
• Make and follow up on referrals of clients to alternative/additional resources
• Additional support activities for the Medical-Legal Partnership attorneys as needed

Requirements: 

• Must possess Certification as a Paralegal
• 2 - 4 years’ experience as a Paralegal
• Commitment to low-income, vulnerable clients and communities
• Experience working on Social Security cases
• Spoken and written fluency in English and Spanish preferred
• Ability to collaborate with community partners
• Must possess excellent legal and community partnership skills and be computer literate (Microsoft Office 365)
• Valid Florida automobile license, use of own auto, and proof of insurance required
