Position Description: 

Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights seeks a creative and strategic development professional to lead our fundraising efforts. This is an ideal leadership opportunity for a person who has a passion for civil rights and racial equity, and the drive and skills to help take the organization to the next level of growth and impact. He or she should have direct experience in soliciting funds from law firms, corporations, and foundations, with significant experience in building major donor campaigns. Our Development Director will lead a development and communications team committed to steadily growing the enterprise by working collaboratively to increase and diversify funding, and to strengthen the organization's brand inside and outside of Chicago.

The Development Director will serve on the management team and report directly to the Executive Director. He or she will supervise a staff team that includes a Communications Manager, Database Specialist, and Grants Specialist.

Seven or more years of fundraising experience, including annual events and personal cultivation, solicitation, and closing of major individual gifts.

A strong commitment to a civil rights and racial equity mission.

Experience with marketing and brand building.

Excellent written and oral communications skills.

Preference given to applicants with knowledge of the Chicago legal, corporate, and philanthropic communities.
