Position Description: 

Position: Reporting to the Chief Development and Marketing Director, the Grants and Contracts Manager serves as the primary grant writer, engages in compliance reporting, manages funder relationships and supports special project initiatives. This position requires strong writing, data analysis, program budgeting, project management skills, with an emphasis on grant compliance and outcome measurement.

Lead grant proposal development/submission – preparing and organizing materials for proposals and submitting and monitoring grant applications.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to effect programmatic compliance with all public and private funding contracts, including:
Working with Legal Department on Legal Services Corporation compliance and trainings;
Working with the Finance Department to facilitate the appropriate allocation and timely invoicing of grant funds;
Working with IT to generate case statistics and other outcome data;
Submitting required financial and performance reports; and
Monitoring performance of contractual partners.
Serve as primary liaison to representatives of granting agencies and contractual partners, including negotiating contract terms consistent with LAFLA program priorities; ensuring timely and effective communication, and coordinating monitoring visits and presentations.
Research, write and coordinate submission of public and private grant applications on the local, state and national level, including recommending projects for funding, developing grant budgets and working with Chief Development and Marketing Director, Legal Department and Executive Director regarding staffing.
Research new funding opportunities on local, state and federal level to expand existing programs and create new programs for funding in advancement of LAFLA’s program priorities.
Perform other related development activities as needed.


BA/BS degree and a minimum of 5 years professional experience in a nonprofit environment in grants/project management, fundraising or related field.
Demonstrated analytical and persuasive writing skills experience as well as superior editing skills, including ability to convey complex information in a clear manner to a diverse audience.
Strong administrative skills and self-motivated with the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks under minimal supervision in an effective and efficient manner.
Demonstrated computer literacy, with very strong word processing, accounting spreadsheet, database and internet research skills.
Detail-oriented, with strong organizational ability.
Ability to collaborate effectively as a team player.
Self-starter with initiative to overcome obstacles and recommend solutions to problems.
Ability to work under pressure and respond to deadlines without sacrificing quality.
