Position Description: 

The Public Defender of Solano County invites you to apply for the position of Deputy Public Defender I/II. Public Defender's Office is recruiting for a full-time regular position. The current vacancy can be filled at either the Deputy Public Defender I or II level, depending on the successful candidate's qualifications. The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill part-time and full-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur in the Public Defender's Office.

* Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. The County contribution for family coverage for the 2018 calendar year is $1,520.73 per month. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage. The County may offer a supplemental contribution for employees enrolled in Employee plus Two or More coverage.
* Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.
* Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.
* Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 3 years. Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year.
* The County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year.
* Effective July 1 of each year, employees are granted 80 hours of Attorney Time Off.
* Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years.

Requirements: 

Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Class C California driver's license may be required.

Active membership in the California State Bar Association is required for this position. All applicants are encouraged to submit proof of membership by the final filing deadline. There is no required document submittal for this recruitment; however, all applicants that are an active member of the California State Bar Association are required to enter their active California State Bar Number on their submitted employment application.

Applicants who anticipate becoming an active member will also be accepted, however they will not be eligible for hire until verification of active membership to the California Bar Association is received. If verification is not received by 5pm, March 5, 2018, applicants will be disqualified from this recruitment.
