Unaccompanied Immigrant Children Fellowship
Funded through the Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation

Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, Inc. (ABLE), a non-profit law firm that provides free legal assistance to low-income agricultural workers and immigrants in Ohio, seeks a dynamic and hardworking attorney to serve as an Unaccompanied Immigrant Children Fellow. The Fellow will provide civil legal assistance to immigrant children eligible for asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, U-visa status, or other immigration relief and represent the children throughout Ohio in related juvenile, asylum, and immigration proceedings. The term of service will begin immediately, with a possible year of renewal. The position will be in our Dayton office.


The Fellow is required to have excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal, organizational, and negotiation skills; the ability to work as a team member; computer proficiency; and a strong commitment to equal justice. Fluency in Spanish, both oral and written, is required. Some evening and weekend work. Knowledge of immigration law and/or experience with immigrant children preferred. The Fellow must be admitted to practice law in Ohio.
