Position Description: 

Miami-Dade Public Defender Carlos J. Martinez is seeking a Secretary with bilingual skills.

PD11 Overview: The Public Defender is an elected official who has a constitutional duty to provide legal representation to persons in jeopardy of losing their liberty who cannot afford to hire a private attorney.

Position Type: Full time

Job Description: The secretary assists attorneys representing clients in our juvenile, county, and felony court divisions. The work may include creating and maintaining case files and other records, maintaining case data in office databases, producing legal documents, maintaining the attorney’s schedule and handling telephone calls.

Salary: Starting salary is $27,000 with a $500 increase upon a successful 6 month written review plus a full-range of state benefits including health insurance, retirement plan, paid vacation, sick leave and holidays, and free tuition for college courses on a space-available basis.

Requirements: 

Requirements/Qualifications:
• Minimum of two years clerical experience or an Associate’s Degree
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry
• Excellent verbal, written, computer, communication and interpersonal skills
• Bilingual skills: English/Spanish and/or English/Creole preferred
