Position Description: 

This position describes advanced professional and program management work responsible for directing, coordinating and delivering agency-wide training through a centralized educational program for all professional and support staff including, but not limited to, attorneys, investigators, administrative staff, legal assistants and social workers. Position collaborates with senior management, supervisors and subject matter experts to identify and meet training needs for the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender staff, statewide. Work involves planning, scheduling and overseeing regular and special training events throughout the year to ensure programs are delivered in a timely, consistent, and cost effective manner. Typical duties include designing and delivering curriculum; selecting and coaching training faculty; reviewing training materials and delivery methods; evaluating students; and ensuring CLE standards and mandatory training requirements are met. Position requires current knowledge of trends in substantive criminal law, defense strategies and advocacy skills, as well as, the principles and theories of teaching adult learners.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Juris doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school.
• License to practice law in the State of Colorado.
• Five years’ experience in criminal defense law including juvenile and adult, appellate, trial litigation at the county and district court levels.
• Experience mentoring and coaching staff and designing and delivering curriculum to adults.
• Must be able to travel to all regional offices to provide training, mentoring and support.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in a Public Defender office.

Salary range: 
The minimum of the salary range is $8,936 a month; actual salary will be dependent on the candidate’s qualifications.
