DONOR RELATIONS COORDINATOR
DEVELOPMENT OFFICE

Position Summary:
Maryland Legal Aid has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Donor Relations Coordinator to join a multi-faceted development office. The Donor Relations Coordinator provides creative support to the Development Office for all fundraising activities, with primary responsibility for donor communications, coordination of United Way and online giving campaigns, establishment and support of the funder affinity groups, and donor research. The Coordinator is also responsible for assisting with special events and a Major Gifts Program, as well as other fundraising activities as needed. The ideal candidate will be an excellent writer who is well-organized, detail-oriented, tech-savvy.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Donor Communications
• Work with Director to ensure Maryland Legal Aid achieves aggressive goals in fundraising, donor retention, and development;
• Draft, coordinate and execute direct mail solicitation appeals and timely acknowledgment letters;
• Draft other donor communications including e-newsletters, event invitations, event programs, appropriate sections of Maryland Legal Aid’s annual report, and all related correspondence; and
• Draft client success stories.
Campaign Management:
• Draft and submit United Way Campaign applications;
• Coordinate and conduct United Way Campaign outreach;
• Manage website donations and online giving campaigns;
• Utilize donor database in the preparation and analysis of donor reports, entry of donor prospects, and moves management tracking; and
• Assist in the maintenance of accurate data and records.
Events:
• Provide support to funder affinity groups;
• Assist in planning, organizing, marketing, and implementing donor cultivation events to build awareness and raise individual support for Maryland Legal Aid; and
• Represent the organization at partner and community events;
Grant Research and Writing:
• With the assistance of Director of Development, research, draft and submit corporate and foundation grant proposals;
• Manage grant compliance following awards; and
• Work with appropriate staff to complete and submit timely grant proposals and reports.
Other:
• Assist with research and cultivation of Major Gift prospects;
• Provide support to the Equal Justice Council’s law firm campaign; and
• Cultivate good working relationships with staff, Board, and clients.

Requirements: 

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field;
• At least two years of experience in not-for-profit development preferred;
• Excellent written/oral communication skills;
• Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management; and
• Ability to organize and prioritize work;
