NRDC is seeking a recent law school graduate to serve as the Charles Koob Litigation Fellow. This two-year fellowship is available starting in September 2018. The Fellow will focus on litigation to redress environmental and public health harms, including air and water pollution, climate change, threats to endangered species, environmental injustice, and exposure to toxic chemicals. The Fellow will represent NRDC and its members in federal or state court litigation, and may work closely with other environmental, labor, and public health groups. The position is a two-year placement, and will likely be based in San Francisco or Washington, DC, depending on candidate preference and NRDC’s needs.
The Fellow will join NRDC’s Litigation Team of 27 attorneys and 6 assistants, and will be supervised by senior NRDC litigators. The Litigation Team brings cases on behalf of NRDC and its programs, which focus on issue areas such as air, energy, and water. The Fellow’s docket will encompass all phases of litigation, from case development through trial and appeals. The Fellow will work closely with NRDC scientists, program attorneys, and experts, and may provide pre-litigation counsel to NRDC programs, or engage in policy advocacy or legislative analysis related to litigation.
• Juris Doctorate within the past three years.
• Admission (or eligibility for admission on motion) to the relevant state bar for the office where the fellow will work.
