Position Description: 

Legal Services of South Central Michigan (LSSCM) has an opening for a staff attorney in its Family Law Project (FLP) office, located in Ann Arbor. The office serves Washtenaw County.

LSSCM provides free legal services to very low income and older adults in 13 counties in south-central Michigan. LSSCM is a project of the Michigan Advocacy Program (MAP) which also provides statewide legal services to migrant and seasonal agricultural workers through its Farmworker Legal Services office. MAP has a full time staff of about 60 people in six offices.

The FLP staff attorney will do service and impact work, primarily in family law cases where there is a history of domestic violence.


Applicants should be licensed to practice law in Michigan, demonstrate a commitment to the low income community and experience or training in handling cases involving domestic violence. Salary is from $44,000, depending on experience. LSSCM is a unionized program with excellent fringe benefits.
