Position Description: 

Community Legal Aid (CLA), the non-profit legal services program providing free civil legal assistance to eligible low-income and elderly clients in central and western Massachusetts, seeks a full-time coordinator to help administer its volunteer lawyer programs in Central Massachusetts. The coordinator will work out of CLA’s Worcester office and will act as one of the coordinators for clients and attorneys participating in CLA’s Private Attorney Involvement (PAI) programs. The coordinator will conduct client intakes and refer appropriate cases to volunteer attorneys; open and close cases in a timely manner and maintain complete records; engage in outreach to private attorneys; assist in the planning and staffing of annual volunteer recognition events; and assist in the development, organization, and presentation of PAI training events. A portion of the coordinator’s time will be spent on activities designed to enhance pro bono assistance for victims of crime. The coordinator will assist in the preparation of periodic grant reports to the Legal Services Corporation, the Mass. Office of Victim Assistance, and other funders.

Requirements: 

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience coordinating volunteer projects strongly preferred. Strong organizational, communication, computer, and interpersonal skills are needed. Familiarity with legal services, the practice of law, or the Massachusetts legal system preferred. Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred.
