Legal Services Law Line of Vermont, Inc. (Law Line) seeks an Executive Director to lead a staff of 10 dedicated and enthusiastic advocates and lawyers at our non-profit civil legal services law firm in Burlington, Vermont. Primarily funded by a grant from the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) in Washington, D.C., Law Line provides free representation, consultation, advice and community education on civil legal matters affecting low-income Vermonters. Through the Vermont Law Help hotline service, Law Line attorneys provide telephone intake for Law Line cases, quick advice, and case referrals to Vermont Legal Aid, Inc.; Law Line also created and manages the Vermont Law Help website that helps Vermonters understand their legal rights and solve problems.
For the Executive Director position, we seek a highly-qualified individual with demonstrated passion for serving and advocating on behalf of vulnerable populations. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of legal experience, preferably related to representing low-income clients and/or advocacy of the same; supervisory experience and grant management experience, preferably with an LSC-funded legal services organization; demonstrated ability to work productively with others in a collegial, dynamic environment; passionate commitment to improving the lives of low-income Vermonters; a law degree from an accredited U.S. law school, or the equivalent; active, good-standing status with a bar association in the U.S.; and eligibility to become a member of the Vermont Bar within one year, if applicable.
