SALARY: $48,169-$67,710 DOQ
DEPARTMENT: Elder Abuse & Caregiver
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Directing Attorney

Summary: Provide all social work support to the project by conducting client intake, completing psycho-social assessments, providing victim’s assistance, providing effective referrals, advocating on behalf of clients, handling complex casework, establishing and maintaining community relationships and other responsibilities as a way to further the mission and strategic goals of the Elder Justice program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive client intake and triage both at Bet Tzedek headquarters and at off-site intake and care locations
• Conduct client assessments, including cognitive, physical, environmental, medical & social needs
• Create system for client safety and social/emotional client interventions
• Create and maintain a resource book for victims of elder abuse including housing, shelters, mental health and victim counseling, and other emergency services
• Advocate on behalf of clients with the courts, criminal justice system, government agencies, medical personnel and other professionals as appropriate for the position
• Attend best practices trainings on services for victims of abuse
• Build relationships with other community-based organizations
• Conduct community education and outreach to consumers, caregivers, regional centers, nursing homes, clergy and other professionals

Requirements: 

Competencies:
• Effective case management requires timely case opening, client data entry, accurate case coding, timely entry of case time, and file organization.
• Successful applicant must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, good teamwork, individual initiative, and capacity to work with culturally diverse or cognitively impaired populations.

Education and Experience: Completion of a BA or BS program required. Post-graduate work in gerontology, social work, psychology or related field a plus. At least two years demonstrated experience working with aging populations.

Practical Skills: Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish (required). Working knowledge of internet and internet research; Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and legal database software (PRIME, Lexis Automated Forms/HotDocs).
