Center for Healthy Communities Attorney
This Center’s focus is on health care access, public benefits and hunger issues. We are looking for a lawyer that will work collaboratively on all these issues but focus particularly on SNAP, TANF, unemployment insurance and access to school meals. This lawyer will conduct trainings for other legal aid and pro bono attorneys and provide community education through pro se and informational materials, and presentations. A primary responsibility is to represent lower-income families’ interests at the Virginia General Assembly. Another primary responsibility is to assist legal aid attorneys around the state with their casework which includes advice, co-counsel and training.


Virginia State Bar members preferred or be willing to become a Virginia State Bar member.
We prefer lawyers with at least a few years of relevant legal experience. We particularly value legal aid or similar public interest experience. You must be willing to work in collaboration with the rest of the staff and our colleagues outside the office. We value creativity. Most importantly, we value employees whose experience demonstrates their passion for using the law to help others and increase access to justice for all.
