Position Description: 

The Central Administrative Office of Legal Aid Services of Oregon (LASO), is seeking an assistant director of administration for its office located in Portland.

BACKGROUND: LASO is a non-profit organization that represents low-income clients in civil cases. LASO’s twelve offices include regional offices that serve the general low-income population throughout the state and two specialized statewide programs that provide services to farmworkers and representation on Native American issues. LASO is an effective, high-quality legal services program that is committed to advocacy strategies having the broadest possible impact on client community problems.

RESPONSIBILITIES: This management position is responsible for human resource compliance, including compliance with the ADA, COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA, OSHA and relevant policies. The Asst. DOA maintains, implements, and educates staff about LASO’s benefits plans; manages and documents personnel transitions in the program; and consults with regional directors regarding HR issues. The human resources responsibilities generally comprise approximately 50% of this position. The Assistant Director of Administration also assists the Director of Administration on other administrative tasks, such as grant management, and technology support and implementation. This position reports to the Director of Administration.
SALARY/BENEFITS: Salary depends on experience. Full benefits package including health insurance and 401(k) plan.

Requirements: 

JD preferred or experience with HR compliance in a nonprofit organization, and the ability to assist with technology projects or grant management duties. Strong technology skills a plus. The applicant selected for this position must also demonstrate good judgment, the willingness to work as a team, take initiative, and have an overall positive attitude.
