Board Track - Effective Boards during Times of Challenge & Change

The changing economy has created significant resource development and fundraising challenges. As our communities face the hardships of severe structural economic failure, we are challenged to develop new ways of thinking, and collaborating to accomplish our missions.

Organizations are faced with difficult decisions affecting the ability of programs to meet increased client needs, and many programs have been forced to make deep cuts in personnel and client services. Other programs are investing in innovation, personnel and community empowerment.

The modern nonprofit era requires boards to challenge assumptions, rethink systems and approaches, tackle difficult issues and have an eye on improving the overall performance and impact of the program.

This year’s Board Track will explore the increased importance of strategic and effective boards during this period of economic uncertainty and increased client need.
