Training & Conferences Hardship Policy

National Legal Aid & Defender Association (NLADA) is committed to providing high quality, attorney training and legal education programs at an affordable price. Attorneys who would like to attend an NLADA training program but are unable to afford the registration fee may apply for a full or partial waiver of the registration fee. In many instances, NLADA and /or its membership sections may offer scholarships covering the some or all of the conference registration fee for a number of programs; however, in the event that there is no formal scholarship application process, attorneys may submit a letter requesting assistance. Said letter from the requesting attorney must clearly demonstrate the financial hardship and state the specific amount of the waiver sought. The letter must be signed by the requesting attorney, accompanied by a completed registration form, and received by NLADA offices at least 30 days prior to the commencement of the course. The granting of a waiver is strictly at the sole discretion of NLADA and will be awarded only to qualified attorneys on a case by case basis and only when space is available.
