2010 Emerging Leadership II: Community, Engagement & Purpose is an interactive, hands-on learning event designed to enhance the effectiveness of emerging staff, board and client leaders in their roles as advocates, leaders and board members. This conference will afford participants an opportunity to assess and understand their leadership profile. Using the Leadership Practices Inventory developed the authors of the Leadership Challenge; participants will develop a personal leadership development plan. They will learn the key components of effective community engagement and learn to apply them in their local community. The conference will use the Harwood Institute frameworks of the 3A’s of Public Life, Authentic Engagement, and Community Rhythms to aid Emerging Leaders in making greater impact on significant issues affecting their communities.

Who Should Attend? 2010 Emerging Leadership II is designed for new leaders in the civil legal aid community and seasoned leaders in new leadership positions. Programs are encouraged to send teams of participants that include emerging leaders and seasoned leaders. The program is designed to help emerging leaders understand their leadership journey and to help seasoned leaders learn how to support the leadership development of new leaders.

Emerging Leaders are lawyers, paralegals, new middle managers, new litigation, new executive directors, and administrative staff responsible for pro bono, resource development and communications, as well as, attorney and client board members.
