Annual Conference Workshops
National Legal Aid & Defender Association's
Annual Conference sets the standard for up-to-date innovative, interactive, faculty-intense training for the Civil,
Defender and Client communities. Training is a key component of NLADA's mission to seek justice
for all by providing high quality, cost effective legal representation to indigent persons accused
of committing crimes. An experienced and dynamic faculty, carefully selected for each
program based on their professional expertise, conducts all of NLADA's trainings.
NLADA's highly respected training provides our community with the latest substantive information on
laws and legal trends affecting their everyday practice.
- Innovations in technology relevant to the legal profession;
- Practice management techniques and strategies;
- New attorney training;
- Risk management; and
- Skills training updates to keep our community up-to-date.
Client centered, community based advocacy is critical to the effective delivery of indigent
defense services and civil legal assistance. As a result, the Annual Conference
places meeting client needs – as defined by the individual client and
client community - as a top priority.
- The leadership development of clients, client board members, and community
activists is an essential component of community-based justice.
- Meaningful collaborations and
partnerships are essential to the development of legal service and defender services grounded
in the communities served.
- These partnerships require program aid, advocates, boards of
directors, and clients to view the client community as full and equal partners in achieving
equal justice for all.
