Many of our nation's women, men and children are denied justice every day simply because they cannot afford to hire a lawyer:

  • Poor victims of domestic violence have little access to legal protection.
  • Low-income families who are unlawfully evicted from their homes lack the resources to challenge their evictors in court.
  • Poor elderly men and women have no recourse against unsavory lenders who exploit them through illegal and unscrupulous practices.
  • Fixed-income veterans who are denied the medical benefits they earned in service to their country have no viable channel for challenging the system.
  • Poor people who are convicted of serious crimes and incarcerated or executed without adequate counsel before a court of law.

Each year, over 1.5 million poor people call upon legal aid and public defender offices in their local communities to assist them with basic legal problems and to defend against unwarranted criminal charges. For more than 90 years, thanks to unflagging support of individuals and organizations committed to the principle of equal justice, NLADA has provided critical technical support and training directly to lawyers and other equal justice advocates across the United States, as well as serving as a voice in Washington, DC, to ensure adequate federal funding to these local programs.

Your support will enable NLADA to continue its efforts to ensure that all individuals have access to our system of justice, regardless of their economic status.

Please join NLADA's Equal Justice Investors' Circle today by making a tax-deductible contribution. Every contribution to NLADA can make a difference. Download the Equal Justice Investment Form (pdf, 243 Kb) to make your contribution.
